Professors David Spiegel, Debra Kaysen, and Daryn Reicherter from the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford will join us for a panel discussion about Recovery from Trauma in Times of Conflict. Professor Ian Gotlib will moderate a panel conversation with our esteemed colleagues from Psychiatry about the science of trauma and community-level trauma, how people recover from trauma, including trauma experienced in conflict settings, and about how people heal from these experiences.

He is an expert on stress physiology, trauma, and psychotherapy.

Dr. Debra Kaysen is the Chief of the Division of Public Mental Health & Population Sciences in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Her specialty is the treatment of individuals who have experienced traumatic events, both domestically and internationally, including the treatment of PTSD and related disorders and, in particular, the development and implementation of effective coping strategies.

Dr. Dayrn Reicherter is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences whose expertise is in cross-cultural trauma psychiatry. Dr. Reicherter has dedicated more than a decade to providing administrative and clinical services in the context of trauma experience, both locally and internationally.

Dr. Ian Gotlib is the Marjorie Mhoon Fair Professor in the Department of Psychology and a member of the Neurosciences Graduate Program. He studies the effects of early stress on brain development and psychopathology in children, adolescents, and adults, as well as factors that protect individuals from experiencing adverse consequences of stress. This gathering will feature a panel discussion on the topic of “Recovery from Trauma in Times of Conflict.”

Join us for cookies, coffee, and conversation outside of room 041 at 3:30 PM.  A reception will follow the discussion in the Psychology Lounge.
