Student Research Assistant Positions
Participating in research as a research assistant is a rewarding way to learn more about the latest advances in psychology. We have opportunties for Stanford students as well as students and recent graduates from other insitutions. You may participate in research for pay, as a volunteer, work-study student or credited student. Some opportunities may be listed here; however you can also contact labs directly to learn about current openings. Please use the Research Topics link to search for labs studying topics of interest to you.
Student Volunteers (Unpaid)
You can contact individual labs to discuss open research assistant positions. Once you have accepted a volunteer position, contact the administrative assistant for your lab to fill out the appropriate paperwork.
Student Course Credit (Unpaid)
To receive course credit for research work in a Psychology lab:
Step 1: Contact a faculty member directly and ask if he/she would agree to give you credit for research in his/her lab.
Step 2: If the faculty member agrees to oversee your research, go to the Stanford website to Explore courses: Explore courses find the course number associated with that faculty member.
**Example: Go to Explore Courses, type in psychology course number and check the box next to Autumn for the Autumn Quarter listings. Then click "Schedule for the psychology course number" to expand the listing. Then find faculty name in the list, copy the class #, use this number.
Step 3: Use the psychology course number to sign up in Axess.
Step 4: Student is responsible for following up with the faculty member at the end of the quarter to ensure credit is reported for research completed.
