Student Organizations
Stanford Undergraduate Psychology Association (SUPA)
Faculty Advisor: Professor Jeanne Tsai
SUPA is a student-run organization linking students interested in
psychology to other undergraduates, graduate students and faculty members
in the department. The organization, led by the president, three
directors, a financial manager, a community coordinator, and two peer
advisors (collectively known as the "SUPA Core"), is active throughout the
year, directing and facilitating programs and events extremely relevant to
undergraduates with an interest in psychology. SUPA's regular activities
include faculty dinners, informal lunches with members of the psychology
community, information panels such as the "Applying to Graduate Schools"
and "Careers in Psychology," a Peer Advising program, research fairs, and
department socials. SUPA also organizes various community service
projects throughout the year, including the annual Silent Auction to
benefit
local philanthropic organizations and a psychology booth at "Community
Day." SUPA's Peer Advising Program features expert-students who are
available to field any questions other psychology students may have with
respect to the psychology department. Peer Advisors keep office hours
regularly in the SUPA Office (420-542), maintain a Graduate School Library
as well as information for undergraduates about careers in Psychology.
Students interested in meeting with a peer advisor should check the SUPA
bulletin boards or the website for office hours.
Any undergraduate with an interest in psychology is welcome to become
involved. The best way to become a member is to subscribe the "SUPA List"
by sending an email to majordomo@lists.stanford.edu with the
words "subscribe supa" in the body of the email. For the most current
news and updates on SUPA programming, check the SUPA bulletin board on the
first floor of Jordan Hall next to the women's restroom, and the SUPA
website: http://psychology.stanford.edu/~supa
Any questions related to SUPA or undergraduate programs in psychology can
be directed to SUPA at supa@psych.stanford.edu
